UNDER THE SCARES, the documentary on the independent horror
scene from Canada’s Digger Films, has already played a couple of fest dates,
but its creators just landed a big name to add to its onscreen lineup of
talking heads.
Director Steve Villeneuve gave Fango the scoop that zombie master George A. Romero is now part of UNDER THE SCARES (which we previously reported on here), joining a group of interviewees including Herschell Gordon Lewis, Frank Henenlotter, Robert Kurtzman, Maurice Devereaux, Lloyd Kaufman, Debbie Rochon, Rodrigo Gudiño and yours truly and Tony Timpone, among many others. “We had the premiere of the movie over a year ago in New York City, and have already won two Best Documentary awards since, but we got the chance to add Romero to the roster and couldn’t say no,” Villeneuve, who also wrote UNDER THE SCARES with William Dio and produced it with Hugo Bissonnet and Simon Geraghty. “He’s one of the biggest icons in the horror business, and being able to add him is amazing. The Romero clips are in it right now, and the movie is going back to sound mixing so we can finish it once and for all.”
