Shooting has commenced on DEER CROSSING, the backwoods
shocker we last told you about here. More info about the project, which has added Michael Madsen to the cast, has
come our way, along with a poster and a few exclusive pics you can see below.
Written and directed by Christian Jude Grillo, who will also compose the score, and produced by John Michael Kent, DEER CROSSING is about a maniacal farmer named Lukas Walton (K.J. Linhein) who has kidnapped a woman named Maggy (Laura Lynn Cottel, 1st photo below with Linhein) and her son Cole (Kevin Fennell) and held them captive for eight years. Her husband calls retired police detective Derrick Stanswood (Christopher Mann) for help; Fango fave Doug Bradley plays the local sheriff, and Madsen is a police administrator, with Tom Detrik, Jennifer Butler, Carmela Hayslett and Erika Lynn (2nd and 3rd photos) co-starring.
“I wanted to tell a story too dangerous for Hollywood to tell,” says Grillo, who’s shooting DEER CROSSING on locations outside Philadelphia. “Mainstream horror films are too safe, hence people are not as entertained by them as they were in the heyday of horror.” Adds Kent, “Bringing Christian’s vision of horror to life is challenging to film, but will be well worth it to audiences used to watered-down modern horror.”
The filmmakers and Madsen will be promoting the movie at this month’s Monster Mania convention in Cherry Hill, NJ August 19-21. You can find out more about DEER CROSSING at the official website of production company Potent Media.
