As expected, Frank Darabont's No. 2 is taking over.
Glen Mazzara, who penned season one's "Wildfire," and was then hired by Darabont as his right-hand man for the now in-production season two, has taken over as showrunner, reports Deadline. The surprising news broke yesterday that THE MIST director was leaving his position at THE WALKING DEAD, citing the hectic schedule of TV as his reasons.
Mazzara previously served as executive producer on THE SHIELD. Darabont is expected to stay involved in some capacity, although details aren't known just yet.
