Having first won over theatrical audiences with SHAUN OF THE
DEAD, British actor Simon Pegg is getting scared again in a new comedy called A
FANTASTIC FEAR OF EVERYTHING, which is currently shooting at Pinewood
Shepperton Studios.
Variety reports that Pegg stars in the film as a children’s-book author who has turned to crime fiction, and whose research into Victorian serial killers has turned him paranoid, terrified that someone will try to kill him. His condition only gets worse when Hollywood comes calling to bring one of his projects to the screen. Directed (with Chris Hopewell) and written by feature first-timer Crispian Mills, son of actress Hayley Mills and former frontman of the indie rock band Kula Shaker, the $4.9-million-budgeted FANTASTIC FEAR is the first film to receive financing from the new Pinewood Films, with Indomina Releasing (which will release the movie Stateside) and Universal Pictures (which will handle UK, Germany, Australia and Latin American territories) also backing the project. The cast additionally includes Amara Karan (seen in this week’s After Dark/Lionsgate DVD release THE TASK), HELLRAISER’s Clare Higgins, Sheridan Smith and Alan Drake.
