Open Road has confirmed U.S. buy on Joe Carnahan’s THE GREY, adding it to their initial slate of films that includes the Jason Statham-Clive Owen-Robert De Niro-starring KILLER ELITE and Andrew Niccol’s THE HOST.

Screen Daily reports that Open Road CEO Tom Ortenberg and producer Mickey Liddell are teaming up on the release. THE GREY stars Liam Neeson as an oilrig worker whose team gets stranded in snowbound terrain where they are chased by a rogue wolf pack. Frank Grillo, Dermot Mulroney, Dallas Roberts, Joe Anderson, James Badge Dale and Nonso Anozie round out the cast. THE GREY is set for a January 27, 2012 release.
