THE TREE OF LIFE’s Jessica Chastain is in negotiations to
topline Universal International’s Guillermo del Toro-produced genre pic MAMA.
Variety reported on the casting news. Spanish helmer Andres Muschietti is directing MAMA, which expands on his earlier short film. The story involves two young girls who flee from a ghostly woman they believe to be their mother. Muschietti penned the script with Barbara Muschietti, who will also produce with del Toro through the latter’s Del Toro Prods. banner.
