Starring in one film adaptation of a Dan Curtis TV series
wasn’t enough for DARK SHADOWS actor Johnny Depp. News has just broke that
Disney and Depp’s Infinitum Nihil are teaming up to produce a feature version
of Curtis’ 1972 TV movie THE NIGHT STALKER.
Deadline reports that Depp will potentially star as the titular journalist brilliantly essayed by Darren McGavin in the 1972 telepic and later in the ABC series KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER. The TV series was essentially a monster-of-the-week show with Kolchak’s investigations leading him to cross paths with vampires, zombies, werewolves and aliens. The studio will go out to writers shortly.
Depp and his Infinitum Nihil partner Christi Dembrowski will also be producing a drama about the midnight ride made by Paul Revere for Disney, with Depp potentially to star. BATMAN FOREVER scribes Lee and Janet Batchler are writing the screenplay from a story by Sarah Palin. Actually, Palin isn’t involved, but we couldn’t resist the gibe.
