In this 10-minute clip, Gollum actor (and now second-unit director) Andy Serkis and director Peter Jackson chat about the first block of shooting on THE HOBBITT, the cast & crew talk about what they’re going to do during the hiatus and Jackson takes us on a guided tour of New Zealand while location scouting.

The video was posted on Peter Jackson’s Facebook page. With the first of a scheduled three blocks of filming now wrapped, THE HOBBIT has completed 54 days of production, with 200 to go! The two-part THE HOBBIT is being shot consecutively in digital 3D at Stone Street Studios, Wellington, and on location around New Zealand. The first movie is called THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY and will be released on December 14, 2012. The second film is titled THE HOBBIT: THERE AND BACK AGAIN and is slated for release on December 13, 2013. Click here to see some gnarly dwarf photos.
