They’re part zombie, part demon—they’re “Zemons,” and
they’ll be getting in your face via DEAD BEFORE DAWN, a 3D supernatural
action/comedy currently lensing in Niagara Falls, Ontario. It’s the first 100
percent Canadian full-length live-action dimensional feature.
Directed by April Mullen, written by Tim Doiron and produced by the pair through their Wango Films company, DEAD BEFORE DAWN stars Devon Bostick (who had roles in SAW VI and SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD), the LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT remake’s Martha MacIsaac, Brandon Jay McLaren, Brittany Allen, Kevin McDonald, Ellen Dubin, A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE’s Kyle Schmid and Rossif Sutherland. The story concerns a group of college kids who accidentally release a curse that causes people to commit suicide, leading them to come back as “Zemons.”
Financed via Telefilm Canada’s Canada Feature Film Fund, DEAD BEFORE DAWN is being entirely lensed in stereoscopic 3D. “Over the past three years we’ve been pitching the film with 3D in mind, and it’s incredible how far the technology has come,” Mullen says. “We love the challenge, and have a passionate team surrounding us.” You can find out more at DEAD BEFORE DAWN’s official website (which includes video blogs like the one below) and Facebook page.
