INSIDIOUS’ James Wan is in final negotiations to direct New
Line’s THE CONJURING.
Variety reports that Wan is close to signing on to helm THE CONJURING. Carey and Chad Hayes wrote the pitch, which was inspired by the supernatural events that happened in the Rhode Island home of the Perron family. The Hayes’ previously penned the HOUSE OF WAX remake, THE REAPING and WHITEOUT. Peter Safran and Tony DeRosa-Grund will produce through The Safran Company. No production start date has been set yet. Wan, of course, is coming off the success of INSIDIOUS, which has already grossed more than $75 million worldwide after only costing a little more than a million dollars to make.
