LET ME IN director Matt Reeves is developing an adaptation
of Justin Cronin’s THE PASSAGE for Fox 2000, and he’s settled on a new
screenwriter for the project.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jason Keller has been hired to script THE PASSAGE. Keller wrote the screenplay for the Marc Forster-directed MACHINE GUN PREACHER, and co-wrote Tarsem Singh’s untitled SNOW WHITE project, which stars Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen.
SWEENEY TODD’s John Logan wrote the original draft when Ridley Scott, who is producing THE PASSAGE, was possibly going to helm the project. Cronin’s novel is the first of a proposed trilogy. You can go to the official PASSAGE web page for more info on the book, but here’s the synopsis:
“An epic and gripping tale of catastrophe and survival, THE PASSAGE is the story of Amy–abandoned by her mother at the age of six, pursued and then imprisoned by the shadowy figures behind a government experiment of apocalyptic proportions. But Special Agent Wolgast, the lawman sent to track her down, is disarmed by the curiously quiet girl—and risks everything to save her. As the experiment goes nightmarishly wrong, Wolgast secures her escape—but he can’t stop society’s collapse. And as Amy walks alone, across miles and decades, into a future dark with violence and despair, she is filled with the mysterious and terrifying knowledge that only she has the power to save the ruined world.”
