The UK's Film4 Frightfest—also known as the festival I'm most consistently dying to attend—has announced the opening and closing films of its 2011 incarnation!
Taking place from August 25-29 at its home in the Empire Cinema in Leicester Square, the renowned genre festival will lift its curtains to the eerie tune of one of this summer's most anticipated fright flicks, DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK. Directed by Troy Nixey and produced and co-written by Guillermo del Toro, the film is an update of 1973's TV movie of the same name. This time out, young Sally (Bailee Madison) is sent to live with her father (Guy Pearce) and his new girlfriend (Katie Holmes) in a massive house that harbors dark secrets in the form of tiny, whispery creatures.

Closing out the fest will be the Melissa George-starring A LONELY PLACE TO DIE. Julian Gilbey's tale of five mountain climbers sees George (TRIANGLE) discover a captive young Serbian girl in the wilderness, only to end up in a confrontation with her kidnappers.

The fest also announced a third film, this year's festival favorite THE TROLL HUNTER. For more on the Film4 Frightfest, you can head to its official site and check out its e-magazine.
