Beloved festival horror/comedy TUCKER & DALE VS. EVIL has been languishing without distribution for seriously good long while, despite it's almost across-the-board crowd-pleasing traits. Well, that's changed.
Magnet Releasing, the genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, who's been responsible for a banner year so far with BLACK DEATH, I SAW THE DEVIL and THE TROLL HUNTER has picked up TUCKER & DALE for VOD and theatrical distro. Magnet will release the film in it's trendsetting VOD-then-theater platform, seeing the movie hit on-demand August 26 and limited theatrical engagements September 30.
The film sees "Tucker and Dale, two best friends on vacation at their dilapidated Appalachian mountain cabin, who are mistaken for murderous backwoods hillbillies by a group of obnoxious, preppy college kids. When one of the students gets separated from her friends, the boys try to lend a hand, but as the misunderstanding grows, so does the body count." TUCKER & DALE was directed by newcomer Eli Craig and stars Tyler Labine, Alan Tudyk (FIREFLY, DODGEBALL) and 30 ROCK and PIRANHA 3DD actress Katrina Bowden.
