Jason Blum—one of the producers on INSIDIOUS, the most
profitable movie of 2011 to date—is collaborating with THE EXORCISM OF EMILY
ROSE director Scott Derrickson on a new horror project.
The LA Times got the exclusive. Blum, who also produced the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY movies and is involved with Barry Levinson’s THE BAY and Rob Zombie’s THE LORDS OF SALEM, wouldn’t reveal the plot line for the untitled Derrickson project, which will shoot this summer, but the producer describes it as a horror story with a crime at the center. The goal is to—like with INSIDIOUS—make a movie that puts a good idea and vision ahead of expensive stars and FX. "It’s hard to do, but when it works, it’s much more effective both on the screen and the bottom line," Blum says.
