Warner Bros. has moved FINAL DESTINATION 5 up a couple of
weeks, while The Weinstein Company has shifted APOLLO 18 back onto its 2011
slate and Robert Hall’s sequel CHROMESKULL: LAID TO REST 2 now has a date.
Box Office Mojo reports that FINAL DESTINATION 5 (in 3D) has been moved two weeks closer, from August 26 to August 12, where it will now go head to head with FilmDistrict’s Guillermo del Toro-produced DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK. With so few horror films coming out this summer, that simply doesn’t make much sense. And APOLLO 18, which was set to bow on January 6, 2012, will now debut in that August 26 slot, where it will face off against another Weinstein movie, OUR IDIOT BROTHER. While BROTHER is getting a limited release, something tells us that the Weinsteins might move that film to another date as well.
As far as CHROMESKULL goes, Dread Central is reporting a September 20, 2011 date for the slasher sequel. Robert Hall's follow-up sees the titular slasher (once again played by Nick Principe) return with a cast that includes Thomas Dekker, Brian Austin Green, Danielle Harris, Owain Yeoman, Mimi Michaels, Chris Nelson, Gail O’Grady and Angelina Armani.
