A Classic Monsters and Bela Lugosi buff, FX legend Rick
Baker (who won an Oscar for turning Martin Landau into Lugosi for ED WOOD) was
the perfect person to dream up this cover image of a craggy-faced, soul-stealing
sailor for the BELA LUGOSI’S TALES FROM THE GRAVE #2.
The LA Times posted the cover for TALES FROM THE GRAVE #2, which hits stores in July and was unveiled at WonderCon over the weekend by the comic’s publisher, Monsterverse. Baker created the eye-catching, spooky seafarer with ZBrush, and then Kerry Gammill, the editor and publisher of Monsterverse, came up with the ship and stormy sea in the background and also handled some color tweaking and the logo work.
BELA LUGOSI’S TALES FROM THE GRAVE is a full-color comics anthology in the classic EC and Warren tradition that presents weird and fantastic tales in which the DRACULA actor acts as host and commentator for each terror yarn. The third issue of BELA LUGOSI’S TALES FROM THE GRAVE will be released around Halloween. Click here for more info on TALES FROM THE GRAVE as well as the issue #1 cover.
