It was recently announced that Dimension Films’ PIRANHA 3DD had been shifted from its original September berth to a November 23 release. Not too surprising as the film hadn’t yet begun shooting, and now it has been revealed that a new filmmaker has joined the team.
Moviehole reports that veteran indie writer/producer/director Joel Soisson has come aboard the John Gulager-helmed killer-fish sequel, to produce the movie and rewrite Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan’s script. Soisson was a producer on the trio’s debut shocker FEAST and his Neo Art & Logic company produced FEAST II and III, so it’s a good match. Soisson brings plenty of other sequel experience to the table, too; his credits also include follow-ups to HELLRAISER, MIMIC, THE PROPHECY, DRACULA 2000 and PULSE for Dimension, and he was a producer on the company’s upcoming HELLRAISER: REVELATIONS and director/producer of CHILDREN OF THE CORN: THE DWELLER. And he’s working on another upcoming dimensional fright film, CONDITION DEAD 3D. The site additionally reports that the PIRANHA 3DD synopsis and early cast listed on the IMDb are false, and no actors have yet been signed. Stay tuned for further updates.
