In the second WALKING DEAD posting of the day, it has been announced that Frank Darabont’s project will become the network's fourth original series with a six-episode order.
The Hollywood Reporter disclosed that DEAD, based on Robert Kirkman's graphic novels, was ordered to pilot in January, followed by the early series pickup with the pilot still in the casting stages.
DEAD starts production in June in Atlanta. The series is set to premiere in October 2010 during AMC’s Fearfest, the network’s annual marathon of thriller and horror films.
Kirkman is serving as an executive producer alongside Darabont, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert. Also joining the show as exec producer is DEXTER’s Charles “Chic” Eglee.
“This is my first weekend off in two months,” Darabont, who has been working feverishly on THE WALKING DEAD pilot, told Fango last Friday. Expect more series updates shortly.
