Just two weeks ago, Universal shut down Guillermo del Toro’s big-budgeted, R-rated adaptation of H.P Lovecraft’s AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS. Now, Marc Forster’s adaptation of Max Brooks’ WORLD WAR Z starring Brad Pitt may be in jeopardy unless Paramount can find a co-financier. And did we mention that Forster assured the studio of a PG-13 cut? Let the vitriolic comments begin!
According to Vulture, WORLD WAR Z currently has a price tag of more than $125 million, and the studio is looking for a partner to share the risk. Sources say that if they can’t find one, it’s likely that Paramount will pull the plug on the project. Insiders say an 11th-hour effort is being made to court frequent Paramount co-financier David Ellison as well as another, unspecified investor.
