Shooting is about to start on genre legend David Cronenberg’s THE TALKING CURE, starring THE ROAD’s Viggo Mortensen as Sigmund Freud. Now, it has been announced that the director and star will be collaborating on their fourth project together: a sequel to EASTERN PROMISES.
Although EASTERN PROMISES wasn’t exactly horror, it’s always exciting to hear about a new Cronenberg project—and, according to Deadline, PROMISES producer Paul Webster says he’s lining up a sequel which would have Mortensen reprising his Oscar-nominated role as Nikolai Luzhin. Co-star Naomi Watts’ name hasn’t been mentioned yet, but both Cronenberg and screenwriter Steven Knight are set to return. The Focus Features pic would probably start rolling no sooner than this winter.
