Looks like Henry Selick isn’t the only one nurturing pre-pubescent horror obsession. The Animation Picture Company has set its sights on ZOMBIE PET SHOP from—get this—POP SKULL and AUTOPSY scripter E.L. Katz. Of course, the animated feature will be in 3D. And, oh, by the way, this picture of a zombie dog, while cool and somewhat relevant, has nothing to do with the movie.

Variety reports that John Davis’ outfit has landed the rights to the script, which will mark Katz’s first plunge into the animation and “kid friendly” realm. The story deals with a mall pet shop infected with an unidentified virus that turns the animals into zombies. The fate of the infected rests with your average pug named Joey, who must find an antidote to save his friends.

It’s probably unlikely that these critters will be along the lines of the 28 DAYS LATER monkey or I AM LEGEND’s Sam, but who would miss the chance to see JIMMY NEUTRON: BOY GENIUS-styled critters facing an impending apocalypse? A five-year-old can dream, right?
