The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films has announced the nominations for the 37th Annual Saturn Awards, and leading the way on the horror film front are LET ME IN, BLACK SWAN and SHUTTER ISLAND, among others. Find out all of the fright flick nominations after the jump.
LET ME IN garnered seven Saturn nods, and both BLACK SWAN and SHUTTER ISLAND nabbed five nominations. Here’s the rundown:
BLACK SWAN is up for Best Horror/Thriller Film, Best Actress (Natalie Portman), Best Supporting Actress (Mila Kunis), Best Director (Darren Aronofsky) and Best Writing (Mark Heyman, Andres Heinz, John McLaughlin).
BURIED’s Ryan Reynolds is a Best Actor candidate.
LET ME IN is nominated for Best Horror/Thriller Film, Best Performance by a Younger Actor (Kodi Smit-McPhee & Chloe Grace Moretz), Best Director (Matt Reeves), Best Writing (Matt Reeves), Best Music (Michael Giacchino) and Best Make-Up (Andrew Clement, Jennifer McDaniel, Tarra Day). Clement is also up for another Best Make-Up nod (along with Donald J. Mowat) for REPO MEN.
SHUTTER ISLAND was selected for Best Horror/Thriller Film, Best Actor (Leonardo DiCaprio), Best Supporting Actor (Mark Ruffalo), Best Director (Martin Scorsese) and Best Production Design (Dante Ferretti).
SPLICE is up for Best Science Fiction Film as well as Best Make-Up (Howard Berger, Gregory Nicotero).
TWILIGHT: ECLIPSE’s sole selection is for Best Fantasy Film.
And THE WOLF MAN is nominated for Best Horror/Thriller, Best Costume (Milena Canonero), Best Make-Up (Rick Baker, Dave Elsey) and Best Production Design (Rick Heinrichs).
Additionally, CENTURION, MONSTERS, MOTHER and RARE EXPORTS: A CHRISTMAS TALE are up for Best International Film. Although it hasn’t been posted yet, you can visit the official Saturn Awards site for the television selections and complete list of Saturn Awards nominees.
