Gossip spread like wildfire this week that 28 WEEKS LATER director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo might be taking over the long-mooted remake of THE CROW. Well, Fango has learned that another Spanish filmmaker is actually in line to helm the reboot from Relativity Media. See below the jump to learn his name.
The other director “in talks” to put THE CROW into flight again is F. Javier Gutiérrez (pictured), director of the sci-fi serial-killer thriller BEFORE THE FALL (a.k.a. TRES DÍAS), which IFC released here. A number of directors have been attached to the new adaptation of J. O’Barr’s comic, including BLADE’s Stephen Norrington, but progress on the production has been slow. If Gutiérrez takes the CROW plunge, that’s just one of several projects the Spaniard is currently juggling. He’s already signed to enter HOUSE OF HORROR for SAW/INSIDIOUS’ James Wan, the first film in the latter’s eight-picture deal with Icon Entertainment (see news here), and also has THE GREYS and MONKEY’S PAW (see here) on his plate. Stay tuned for updates.
