Oren Peli has taken to PARANORMAL ACTIVITY’s official website to finally announce who exactly will be directing the sequel. And after much speculation involving names like Akiva Goldsman and even Brian De Palma, the man taking the reins will be…

Kip Williams, who helmed the Kim Basinger drama THE DOOR IN THE FLOOR. Williams is taking over from SAW VI director Kevin Greutert, who was initially excited to make PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2, but Lionsgate quickly pulled the rug out from under him with contractual obligations and put him at the head of SAW VII, which is expected to open opposite PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 on October 22.

On Paranormal Movie, Peli writes, “I have some news for the fans of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. Director Kip Williams will join us for the next chapter of the story. We are thrilled to have Kip working with us. He is the guy we want at the helm, because he knows exactly what we want to deliver to the fans… and I can’t wait to be a part of what he’s putting together. I don’t want to spoil the story but I promise it’ll surprise you. Stay tuned.
