It was reported earlier today that Joe Dante will return to werewolf territory with a teen-oriented horror/comedy called MONSTER LOVE, and this afternoon he took to Twitter to confirm and celebrate the news.
Screen Daily first broke the news about MONSTER LOVE, for which Arclight Films’ genre division Darclight is beginning sales at the European Film Market. Comics veteran and ROBOT STORIES writer Greg Pak scripted the story of a young lycanthrope and vampire whose romance sets off a war between the supernatural species; Elizabeth Stanley and Frederic Brost are producing. “Looks like after all these years I’m going to get to revisit werewolves—with the addition of vampires!” the man who helmed THE HOWLING tweeted. “It’s true: MONSTER LOVE is next. @gregpak has written a classical monster movie with plenty of humor, action, scares and a bunch of great parts for actors young and old. Thanks for the outpouring of support! I’ve never done a vampire movie, so this combination is going to be fun. We’re hoping to shoot this fall for release next summer. Further details as they happen!” Dante is also currently developing a segment of the horror anthology PARIS, I’LL KILL YOU.
