Stephen King's epic is coming to the cinema.
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Warner Bros is teaming with CBS (who held the rights) to produce a motion picture adaptation of THE STAND, one of the legendary author's most highly regarded works. THE STAND is a sprawling work about the eternal struggle of light and dark after an epidemic wipes out the majority of Americans.
No one is attached just yet, but filmmakers will be presenting their takes to producers in the near future. Unfortunately, I've never taken on the giant novel, nor have I delved into the miniseries, so I'm only consumed with hopeful excitement about this and THE DARK TOWER and the possibility there will be multiple, giant King stories unfolding on screens in the next couple of years.
