The first image from Pedro Almodovar’s (VOLVER, TALK TO HER) plastic surgery revenge tale, LA PIEL QUE HABITO (THE SKIN THAT I INHABIT) has hit, and it looks in tune with the synopsis— a gothic, bizarre, dark and beautiful Almodovar film—so commence excitement.
The film stars Antonio Banderas and Elena Anaya (FRAGILE), and concerns a plastic surgeon avenging his daughter’s rape. The image was found at The Playlist (and it seems they nabbed it from the Portuguese site, C7nema) where Almodovar was previously quoted as saying, “It's the harshest film I've ever written and Banderas' character is brutal."
THE SKIN THAT I INHABIT is based on Theirry Jonquet’s novel, TARANTULA, and has already secured U.S. distribution via Sony Pictures Classics (see item here), but is undated.
