By now, you’ve now doubt read about the changes coming to the pages of your favorite horror culture periodical. One of those changes—or rather, additions—will be a new monthly feature called Sound Shock (premiering in issue #293, on sale in April), a column dedicated to horror film scores and soundtracks and the visionary musicians who create them.
Our first Sound Shock subject is San Francisco jazzman (and practicing psychiatrist) Denny Zeitlin, the award-winning musician who counts as his only film score Philip Kaufman’s chilling 1978 remake of INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS. Those of you who worship that film (and if you don’t, you really should) are aware of just how frightening and powerful Zeitlin’s experimental electro-orchestral sonic landscapes are. They are the glue that holds Kaufman’s meticulously constructed nightmare together.
In honor of this exciting new Fango feature, Perserverance Records is offering our readers a chance to purchase its 25th Anniversary CD of the BODY SNATCHERS score at a special, discounted price. Just hit the company’s official website, select the BODY SNATCHERS CD and, upon checkout, enter the password ‘fangoriadz’. You’ll save $2.55 off the regular list price.
This offer is only good until the end of April, so take advantage. And see you soon in the pages of FANGORIA #293…
