Not much info has been released so far about Clint Eastwood’s latest directorial venture HEREAFTER, but we do know it’s a supernatural thriller, and thus of interest here. And today it was announced that the movie will close this year’s New York Film Festival.

The fest’s 48th annual edition takes place September 24-October 10 at Alice Tully Hall in Manhattan’s Lincoln Center, with HEREAFTER showing on the 10th. Set for general release by Warner Bros. October 22 and scripted by Oscar-winning THE QUEEN and THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND writer Peter Morgan, HEREAFTER stars Matt Damon, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jay Mohr, HIGH TENSION’s Cecile de France, Richard Kind, Jenifer Lewis and MARTYRS’ Mylène Jampanoï in the story of three people in three different countries—a blue-collar American, a French journalist and a London schoolboy—whose experiences with death intertwine. Also playing the NYFF (date to be announced) is WE ARE WHAT WE ARE (SOMOS LO QUE HAY), Jorge Michel Grau’s acclaimed study of a family of Mexico City cannibals who struggle to survive after their patriarch suddenly dies. Tickets for all features go on sale Sunday, September 12; for more info on the New York Film Festival, see its official website here.
