Los Angeles’ Cinema Makeup School, one of the top institutions of its kind in the U.S. that offers classes in all areas of makeup for various media, and FANGORIA are co-sponsoring a special scholarship, named in honor of pioneering artist Dick Smith (pictured)—the Academy Award winner and creator of memorable visages and FX for THE EXORCIST, THE GODFATHER, TAXI DRIVER, AMADEUS and countless others. The Dick Smith Legends of Makeup Scholarship consists of $10,000 to be applied to any Cinema Makeup School program, offered at the institution’s Los Angeles campus. It’s open to anyone over age 18 who with a U.S. high school diploma or equivalent, and who is a U.S. citizen and resident or an international student who meets the requirement of qualification for an M-1 student visa. Applicants must submit a letter of introduction, pertinent contact information and a statement of why they wish to receive the scholarship, and can include images and supporting documentation. Entries are being accepted through April 30, 2011, and the winner (who will be notified via certified mail and announced via both FANGORIA and Cinema Makeup School) must start classes by December 31, 2011.
