It’s been an interesting day for interconnected DVD announcements. Earlier, we reported on two Texas-lensed horror features with cast/crew in common, SWEATSHOP and CLOSET SPACE, setting distribution deals, and now one of the companies involved has also picked up director Brian Corder’s CARNIES.

Corder tells Fango that R-Squared Films, which took on SPACE, has acquired CARNIES and set it for the same DVDebut date: October 12. A limited theatrical release and video-on-demand availability are also being planned, with details to be announced shortly. Set in 1936, CARNIES (scripted by Ron Leming and John B. Nash) centers on a traveling sideshow that puts down stakes in a small Dust Bowl town, where someone or something begins killing off members of the troupe. Reggie Bannister (pictured above) plays a detective investigating the murders and Doug Jones portrays the snake handler; the cast also includes Chris Staviski (who produced the movie with Corder), David Markham, Lynn Ayala, Denise Gossett and Lee Perkins. Cinema Blend first revealed the new poster seen here; check out CARNIES’ trailer below, and the movie’s official website here.
