Shunji Iwai—the writer/director who has earned a reputation for films focusing on teen angst and uncertainty—is taking on a much darker and horror-oriented project, VAMPIRE. Take a look at the first photo from the film and find out what it’s all about.

Twitch reported on VAMPIRE, Iwai’s first English-language feature, which stars DAWN OF THE DEAD’s Kevin Zegers as Simon, a young man who thirsts for blood and looks for willing victims on a website for the suicidal. VAMPIRE is shooting in Vancouver. Besides Zegers (also seen in KOMODO and FROZEN), the cast includes NEEDFUL THINGS’ Amanda Plummer, EIGHTEENTH ANGEL’s Rachael Leigh Cook and Keisha Castle-Hughes.
