Previously released on the Wii to much critical success, DEAD SPACE: EXTRACTION will soon be available on the PS3 (as part of Playstation Move).  To get some insight at porting this horrific gorefest of a rail-shooter over to a next-gen HD console, we sat down with Producer Shereif Fattouh during FANGORIA's back-stage tour of the DEAD SPACE franchise. John Waters is more than just a filmmaker. He’s an innovator, a subversive spit in the face, a wickedly talented screenwriter, novelist and the self-proclaimed “Prince Of Puke.” In his 1981 book SHOCK VALUE, he states that bad taste is what entertainment is all about: “I’ve always tried to please and satisfy an audience that thinks they’ve seen everything. I try to force them to laugh at their own ability to still be shocked by something.” On October 23, Waters presented perhaps the most shocking movie of all time—Pier Paolo Pasolini’s SALÒ, OR THE 120 DAYS OF SODOM—at Toronto’s TIFF Bell Lightbox Theatre. It’s safe to say that the audience was shocked by at least something in the film.

Lynn Lowry is known to many fans of vintage horror cinema as the lovely co-star of George A. Romero’s THE CRAZIES, David Cronenberg’s SHIVERS (a.k.a. THEY CAME FROM WITHIN) and other films, but you can now see a different, er, side of her thanks to Cult Epics’ new DVD/Blu-ray release of the sexploitation classic SCORE. starring the lovely Lynn Lowry. Radley Metzger’s movie is one of the most pivotal and downright erotic features of the early-’70s exploitation period.

First, introductions are in order. I, Kevin Bocarde, am a lifelong Fango reader (hell, I got my first subscription to Fango at 15). Besides being a huge horror fan, I have been lucky enough to co-write the script for CHROMESKULL: LAID 2 REST with the awesome Robert Hall. Robert is running around directing like a madman, thankfully without bladed weapons—well, actually, there were some on day one, so I’m here to give you the skinny on what’s happening in the world of Chromeskull.

Working for a rag like FANGORIA comes with some occasional perks (when they let you out of the sweat shop, that is), like getting to tackle trips to EA's San Francisco headquarters to check out the upcoming highly anticipated release of Visceral Games' DEAD SPACE 2.  Even if it was a whirlwind cross-country jaunt, Fango got to see and do some stuff that should have gamers salivating with envy.

Now that PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 has followed up its sleeper-hit predecessor by dominating the Halloweentime box office (nearly $70 million so far), its creators and stars are being allowed out of the shadows of secrecy to talk about the movie. First and foremost is Oren Peli (pictured), who saw the first PARANORMAL (which he wrote and directed) transform from a literally homemade project to a $100-million-grossing Paramount release.

Fourteen years strong, Helsinki’s Night Visions, the biggest and oldest genre film festival in Finland (six years older than the August-held Melies festival Espoo Ciné), keeps rolling out the hits with New York’s own Frank Henenlotter as this year’s headlining guest.
