Each Halloween season, the subways in New York City are adorned with nightmares. They’re ever changing, but the residents know what it means: one of the city’s most lauded haunts is returning. And this year, with creator Timothy Haskell reluctantly giving in to his audience’s blood thirst, it sounds like Nightmare is at its most vicious yet. Back when Joe Dante first rolled cameras on THE HOLE in late 2008, it was at the forefront of a new wave of 3D production that would soon become a staple of fantasy/horror filmmaking. With the movie out this week on DVD and Blu-ray, Fango spoke to director/co-scripter Drew Goddard about constructing a horror homage that also stands spectacularly on its own.
