Well, June is here and I have some very exciting news to share (which I will do so at the end of my blog so please read on)! It's June and that means you can stream this month's FANGORIA'S DREADTIME STORIES episode for FREE or purchase it via download, commercial free with extended scenes, for only $1.99. June's episode is titled "Table Scraps" and your host into the macabre, as always, is Malcolm McDowell.
The story comes from the prolific Matthew J. Elliott, who wrote last February's FANGORIA'S DREADTIME STORIES episode "Living Space." Here's the plot for "Table Scraps": Most politicians would kill for a high approval rating. The powerful Lorrimer family don't need your approval, but they kill anyway.
The cast for "Table Scraps" includes McDowell (Host), Tim Dadabo (Isaac Salt), Kurt Naebig (Ned Lorrimer), Christian Stolte (Sam Lorrimer), Anne Whitney (Momma Lorrimer), Tonray Ho (Alex Chun), Jim McCance (Bruno Andrenyi & Announcer), JoBe Cerny (Seymour Cicero), Ambre Lake (Female Victim) and Carl Amari (Male Victim).
I hope you enjoyed last month's "The Dark Enforcer" by Barry Richert. This was one of my favorite episodes so far. It was Barry's first FANGORIA'S DREADTIME STORIES but he's written several episodes of THE TWILIGHT ZONE radio dramas for me, and just turned in another FANGORIA episode titled "The Final Battlefield" which we plan to feature as our September installment.
Don't forget that "Table Scraps" is yours to stream FREE the entire month of June. If you'd like to own it commercial free with extended scenes, please digitally-download it for only $1.99. For those of you who are unfamiliar with FANGORIA'S DREADTIME STORIES - here's the scoop:
FANGORIA'S DREADTIME STORIES is a new-time radio drama series produced in the flavor of classic radio from the 1930's, 40's and 50's but using today's state-of-the-art digital technology. Each and every month a new 45-minute episode will be available for you to hear anytime you'd like just by logging on to the Fangoria website at www.fangoria.com and streaming the episode for FREE (the streams contain a few national commercials).
Each episode will 'thrill you and chill you' but I warn you: These radio dramas are not for the feint of heart. We recommend that persons under the age of 14 not tune in! Although these episodes are meant to amuse and exercise your imagination - they can be quite scary, shocking, and include adult language and adult situations. FANGORIA'S DREADTIME STORIES are hosted by acclaimed actor, Malcolm McDowell. They are written by top writers of today and include full casts (often featuring Hollywood celebrities), movie-quality sound effects and original music scores by Fangoria's Editor-in-Chief, and accomplished composer, Chris Alexander.
We launched this series last October 2011, and all of our past shows are available for digital-download to any listening device for only $1.99 each. The digital-downloads are commercial free with extended scenes (the director's cut). And don't forget that the radio drama scripts of current and past episodes are available for you to print PDF copies for free. These are the same scripts used by Malcolm McDowell and the actors. It's fun to print your copy and read along while listening.
This series is also available on Sirius/XM so check their listings! They are also available on CD and in special collector editions from AudioGo at: http://www.audiogo.com/
Next month, you won't want to miss "Mercy" an original radio play by Max Allan Collins. Plot: Mercy Mathers is the wildest party girl in school until her antics cause the deaths of the entire school football team's starting line-up. Mercy seeks forgiveness by way of religion and embarks on a mission from God to save all the bad boys.
Okay, now for the exciting news:
If you're a fan of Arch Oboler's golden-age radio horror series LIGHTS OUT, you know that many of the episodes have not survived on audio. Many LIGHTS OUT episodes were originally broadcast live and were not recorded. Famous LIGHTS OUT episodes like "The Dark," "Burial Service" and Oboler's most famous story the "Chicken Heart" do not exist today on audio. They only exist in script form and in recreations on audio by fans.
By special arrangement with the estate of horror master, Arch Oboler, we will be adapting some of Mr. Oboler's famous radio works (originally heard on LIGHTS OUT) as episodes of FANGORIA'S DREADTIME STORIES. We will begin with "Chicken Heart" and "The Dark." The adaptations will be based on Mr. Oboler's works but will be modernized and elongated from 22 minutes to 45 minutes when heard on FANGORIA'S DREADTIME STORIES. I've been a longtime fan and admirer of Arch Oboler and I want to thank the estate for making this a possibility. I hope to have the first episode based on Mr. Oboler's "Chicken Heart" for you early next year.
Make sure to tune in to this month's episode, "Table Scraps" and collect them all, commercial free with extended scenes, via digital-download for only $1.99 each or on CD through AudioGo. Thanks for your support and I'll be back next month with my July blog. Please be sure to tell a friend about FANGORIA'S DREADTIME STORIES!
