When Fango last brought you news on Mark Selz’s suburban devil-cult movie SATANIC PANIC, Selz teased us with the notion of a tie-in mask of the film’s main hellspawn being crafted for next Halloween. Now the infernal visage can be unveiled.
“This is the mask of the creature in SATANIC PANIC, and its name is Toby,” the director/co-writer tells Fango. “Everyone will understand more about it once they’ve seen the film, of course.”
Sculpted by J. Anthony Kosar and produced by Chicago-based Zagone Studios, the latex mask will be available next fall. “Hopefully, we’ll have a release date for the movie by then as well,” Selz says. “Apparently, some big outlets are interested in carrying the mask in their chains for next Halloween, so hopefully that will help sell the film too.”
SATANIC PANIC revolves around six friends on a canoe trip who become trapped in the woods by resident devil worshippers and must escape or become sacrificial offerings. Selz also reports on the film’s recent first screening, saying, “The world premiere went really well. It was held last Friday night—Black Friday!—at The Westin Chicago North Shore in Wheeling, Illinois.
