Fango caught up with fave actor Bill Moseley at the recent Rock and Shock convention in Worcester, MA, where he talked up his role as Mayor Buckman (as seen in the exclusive pic below) in Tim Sullivan’s 2001 MANIACS: FIELD OF SCREAMS. Moseley took over for Robert Englund, who portrayed Buckman in the previous MANIACS, “and those are very big shoes to fill,” he tells us.“My Buckman isn’t as debonair as Robert’s,” Moseley continues. “His has a certain suavity that mine lacks. Mine is just a little more rough-and-tumble, and mean and vicious.”
In the sequel, which we last reported on here, Buckman leads the bloodthirsty residents of Pleasant Valley, GA to slaughter a bunch of reality-TV people who seek to exploit them. “We shot it this summer in Iowa right on the banks of the Missouri River,” says Moseley, pictured with Ryan Fleming and Sullivan. “We had a lot of singing and dancing, killing and feasting. It was a really great time, and Kevin ‘Ogre’ Ogilivie is in it, so we had a lot of fun reuniting after our time together in REPO! Also, my daughter Jane got to come out and work in the art department for a couple of days, so it was kind of a family affair. It was great to work with Tim Sullivan, because he has been a big fan of mine, and I of his, for years. I know it has taken him a long time to finally get the MANIACS sequel up on the screen, and I was just glad to be a part of it and help him with it.” You can check out the movie’s Facebook page here.
Moseley also gets his villain on in THE TORTURED, a thriller for Twisted Pictures (producers of the SAW series) that’s currently seeking a distributor. “We shot that up in Vancouver last year,” he says, “and it’s a great, very rough and rude movie. I play a pedophile child killer in it, but I do get my comeuppance, which is a very interesting twist.” Indeed, Moseley’s Kozlowski is the tortured of the title, after he’s captured by a couple (played by Jesse Metcalfe and Erika Christensen) whose son he has murdered. “At first,” the actor recalls, “they said, ‘We want you to play a child killer,’ and I have kids of my own and I wasn’t enthusiastic about it. But then they offered me a certain princely sum to do it, and I said, ‘Show me the boy!’ ” he laughs. You can meet Moseley in Las Vegas this weekend at Fango’s inaugural Trinity of Terrors convention.
