Satanic Greetings, Fango Fiends! Psycho Bunny here with another installment of Fango's IN BRIEF.We've got juicy nuggets of puss-filled, blood-drenched updates for JENNIFER'S BODY, BEWARE THE DEVIL, RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE, CHAW, THRIST, and another celebrity death.
- Megan Fox will soon be seen in Diablo Cody's 20th Century Fox pic JENNIFER'S BODY, and while you'll have to wait until FANGORIA #286 to read our exclusive coverage, you can rest easy knowing that the film has been given a healthy R rating by the MPAA. Blood and Boobs, folks! Or is that Bloody Boobs? I'm thinkin' the latter!
- EMPIRE recently spoke with filmmaker Shane Meadows, who says he's prepping a new film called BEWARE THE DEVIL. “It’s based on a book of the same name, based on the life of a guy who, by getting involved with ouija boards and the occult by trying to disprove it, trying to take the piss out of it, got possessed, had to be exorcised, and later became an exorcist himself. The guy it happened to has died, but his son’s a novelist, and he helped him turn it into a book before he passed away, and now I’m working with him to turn it into a film.” OUIJA OUJIA OUJIA! Yep, this is the third film announced this year that has a OUJIA board at the center of the plot, and the second one not-backed by OUJIA owners HASBRO.
- 24fps got a look at the new poster for the Korean killer-pig movie CHAW, and this is one pissed porker! Click here to see the poster (Bacon Scent Not Included)
- OLDBOY director Park Chan-Wook's ultraviloent THIRST will be opening on July 31st in limited release via Focus Features. Check it out in New York at Landmark’s Sunshine Cinema (143 East Houston Street, near 2nd Avenue), Los Angeles at the Laemmle Sunset 5 (8000 Sunset Boulevard, at Crescent Heights), or San Francisco at the Landmark Bridge Theatre (3010 Geary Boulevard, near Blake Street). - Ex-Fango scribe (and current bodybuilding enthusiast), the "Rotten One" over at STYD (still sounds like a database for sexually transmitted diseases) says a "studio insider" has shared an "internal memo" that points to RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE, the 4th live-action RE film being prepped for a September 17th, 2010 release. This story has not yet been confirmed! So take that Umbrella Corporation!
- On a sad note, Paranormal Investigator and radio host Lou Gentile has passed away. Steve Barton over at Dread Central has written a tribute, as he was close to Gentile. Read it here.
