Genre fave Tom Savini, makeup artist/director/actor, tells Fango that he will be returning to Austin, TX to reteam with one of his favorite filmmakers this summer. “Robert Rodriguez called me and told me that he has a part in mind for me in MACHETE,” Savini says of the soon-to-be-lensed movie, spawned from the director’s explosive mock trailer (pictured below) from GRINDHOUSE starring Danny Trejo; Rodriguez will helm the feature with Ethan Maniquis.
“And if that role doesn’t work,” Savini continues, “Robert says he would invent a part so Danny can kill the hell out of me, sort of a comeuppance for what I did to him in [Rodriguez’s] FROM DUSK TILL DAWN. Nothing specific beyond that, and no time frame yet, though the rumors are that [shooting will begin] on MACHETE sometime in July. It will be rad.”
Savini, who played Deputy Tolo in Rodriguez’s PLANET TERROR, didn’t mention if the director may page him again for his previously announced futuristic Dimension thriller NERVERACKERS, or the sequel PREDATORS (which Rodriguez is producing for Fox, with an Alex Litvak script and directors like THE DESCENT’s Neil Marshall and VACANCY’s Nimrod Antal being considered to direct). But we can all hope…
