DOZERS is the third feature on which the duo have teamed on those three key positions, after 2001’s VENGEANCE OF THE DEAD and 2002’s JIGSAW; they’ve also edited numerous flicks for Charles Band and David DeCoteau. “A few years ago, our homeless-zombie script URBAN DECAY was shot [by director Harry Basil] with Dean Cain, Meat Loaf and Brooke Burns,” Adams (pictured in the first photo on the left with Picardi) tells us. “The producers dropped the ball on it and it’s still tied up in court. It’s a fun, singular take on the zombie genre that deserves a release. We wanted to do something on our own again, so we came up with another off-kilter ghoul story about a stress-relieving drug patch called Solace that has the side effect of driving people crazy.
“DOZERS deals with the stupefication of the nation, by both the pill-pushing health-care industry and a news media who are increasingly serving as lapdogs instead of watchdogs,” he continues. “It’s all built around the single most horrifying idea that we could come up with, which is: What if President Shrub ran for a third term? The movie lets people think if they want to, but Fangorians will be happy to hear that it’s mostly just good, bloody fun.”
The cast includes such familiar genre faces as HALLOWEEN’s Daniel Roebuck (second photo), FEAST’s Duane Whitaker, AMERICAN MOVIE subject Mark Borchardt and WITCHOUSE II’s Ariauna Albright. “We wrote a part for Duane, as we do every time, and we were very excited to get Dan Roebuck to play Thurman Stewart, the head of Faxx News,” Adams says. “We met our leads, Steven Schub and Dawn Olivieri, while cutting DEVIL’S DEN for Jeff Burr. We love THEY LIVE, so we used ex-N.Y. Giant Jarrod Bunch as a very Carpenter-esque badass. Colleen Foy went from THERE WILL BE BLOOD to us. We shot a week in Milwaukee, where Mark Borchardt did a cameo, as well as two weeks in Hollywood and another in Albuquerque. We cast a bunch of our indie friends along the way: Ariauna, Amber Newman, Adam Minoravich, Kurly Tlapoyawa, Billy Garberina, Damon Packard and Jeff Sisson, plus Barrett Walz, David Wesley Cooper and Mark Vollmers from JIGSAW.”
The duo’s “DP for life” Carlo Besasie shot DOZERS, whose makeup FX were created by Ben Chester, “who we also hung in the movie,” Adams says. “We have a very nice, tight cut right now. We’re shooting one more weekend in Milwaukee to get some more rioting, so if anyone there wants to come out and be a Dozer, they can hit us up on our MySpace page. We’re hoping to start shopping a version of DOZERS by late spring.” Keep an eye on that page and this site for distribution updates on DOZERS.

“The film evokes a host of impressive 1950’s forebears such as “It Came From Outer Space” and “Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” with an obligatory nod to 1968’s “Night of the Living Dead.” Variety

This is exactly the kind of film I want to see covered. Who the hell cares about all the studio remakes, I would much prefer to see you cover original work such as this film. This sounds good, cool story, great cast, and there is always room for more zombies in the world!

Fangoria..please do not promote cheap and stupid looking zombie movies. It would be more interesting to keep up on the new Romero zombie film and other zombie film that will for sure be great to see in the theatre.
