Fango received a couple of pics (see them below) and info on a new Australian stalk-and-slasher called SLAUGHTERED, from first-time writer/director Kate Glover. It was originally titled SCHOONER OF BLOOD, after a Down Under slang term for a beer mug, before being rechristened for the international market, lest audiences think it takes place on a boat.
The setting is actually a pub in the Outback where the arrival of a new worker coincides with the start of a massacre of the staff by a mysterious someone lurking in the basement. The cast includes Chloe Boreham, Steven O’Donnell, Roger Smith, Michael Lewis and Casi Swaby; Aline Joyce, whose credits include I KNOW HOW MANY RUNS YOU SCORED LAST SUMMER and X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, created the makeup FX. Glover, who was only 22 at the time, shot SLAUGHTERED at night in a bar where she worked by day, scaring up the financing by selling bottles of blood-red beer to her customers. The movie has its UK premiere at the Grimm Up North! horror festival in Manchester, running Friday-Sunday, October 30-November 1, and will be distributed in Britain by Left Films, which is also guiding Marc Price’s celebrated $70 zombie pic COLIN into the marketplace.
