Just last Friday, we told you that Warner Bros. was looking to do a big-screen remake of the 1985 Michael J. Fox starrer TEEN WOLF, and now comes word that MTV is looking to "reinvent" the TEEN WOLF tale as a weekly series. Our friends over at Horror-movies.ca found the news buried in an announcement of 8 new series' that were just greenlit by the Viacom-owned network.
Originally posted at Variety:
MTV is also pondering a reinvention of '80s film "Teen Wolf" in series format, with a greater emphasis on romance, horror and werewolf mythology. Jeff Davis ("Criminal Minds") is the writer, with Marty Adelstein ("Prison Break") and Rene Echevarria ("Castle") executive producing.
This wouldn't be the first time that competing remake/reboot projects based on the same material have been in-development for both the big and small screens, as this announcement recalls similar developments with Glen A. Larson's KNIGHT RIDER and BATTLESTAR GALACTICA reboots.

Just what we need, another Twilight werewolf deal. I'd like for there to be another series involving werewolves since the Werewolf series on Fox years ago is now gone, but not a series like this. It's a shame to see all these monsters getting a bad rap from bad material. Vampires and werewolves are being thought of as these sissy punks these days and it sucks. 30 Days of Night made vampires actually scary again. This Twilight and New Moon stuff has to go.
