Final specs have been announced for the Anthem Pictures DVD of the Bill Moseley-starrer DEAD AIR, arriving October 27. And indie filmmaker Gary Ugarek sent over cover art and details on two different discs of his own zombie opus, DEADLANDS 2, also arriving from Anthem on the 27th.

Directed by actor Corbin Bernsen and featuring Moseley’s NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD 1990 co-star Patricia Tallman, DEAD AIR is set in a radio station where shock jock Logan Burnhardt (Moseley) and his staff receive increasingly frightening reports from outside of a terrorist bio-weapon attack and the resulting flesheating ghouls. The movie is accompanied by:

• Audio commentary by Bernsen
• “The Making of DEAD AIR” minidocumentary
• Behind-the-scenes interviews with cast and crew

In addition, the first 1,000 people to pre-order the DVD via the film’s official website will receive a limited-edition autographed mini-poster, hand-numbered by the director. Meanwhile, Ugarek’s DEADLANDS 2 (which we previously covered here) will be offered in both a regular special edition and on an HD-DVD disc with even more extras. The general-release version supplements the 2.35:1 transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack with:

• Audio commentary by writer/director Ugarek
• Cast and crew interviews
• “Weapons and Tactics” featurette
• Introduction by Ugarek
• Work-print version of the movie
• Audio commentary by Ugarek on the work print
• Trailers

The HD-DVD will present the movie in a 1920x1080 version with Dolby Digital 5.1, Dolby Digital 2.0 and (tentatively) PCM Lossless 5.1 sound mixes. This will be an extended director’s cut with footage not seen in the regular DVD edition, accompanied by a new Ugarek commentary, and will feature the extras listed above (with work-print commentary by Nick Thomson, director of the horror/comedy short I AM ZOMBIE MAN), plus the following:

• “No Money and a Camera” featurette with indie filmmakers Justin Timpany, Daniel Ross and Lonnie Martin
• “Another Indie Filmmaking Feature” with Ugarek and Martin
• Helena, Hussy of Horror DEADLANDS 2 introduction

Limited to 500 copies, the HD-DVD will come with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. Retail price on the regular DVD is $19.95, and the HD-DVD is $29.95; check out the DEADLANDS 2 site here.



Blue Underground is bringing the original slasher cult fave THE TOOLBOX MURDERS to Blu-ray January 26. The uncut Cameron Mitchell-starrer will be presented in full 1080p HD resolution at 1.66:1, and the disc will include all the special features from the previous DVD:

• Audio commentary by producer Tony DiDio, cinematographer Gary Graver and star Pamelyn Ferdin
• “I Got Nailed in THE TOOLBOX MURDERS” featurette with star Marianne Walter
• Theatrical trailer
• TV and radio spots

Retail price is $29.95.

Lionsgate Home Entertainment releases the psychological horror film SHATTERED LIVES to DVD December 22. Written and directed by SHADOWS OF THE DEAD’s Carl Lindbergh, it stars Lindsey Leino as a schizophrenic little girl named Rachel, who’s forced to keep the secret of her mother’s affair from her father. To her tormented mind, a pair of clown dolls come to life, and begin encouraging her to kill—an urge Rachel continues to feel years later as a young woman (Christina Rosenberg).
