SDCC '09: AFTER DARK HORRORFEST 4 updates

SDCCJust before leaving for San Diego Comic-Con, After Dark Films chief Courtney Solomon and his team gave Fango a few updates on next year’s AFTER DARK HORRORFEST 4, which will run January 29 to February 5 and include such high profile titles as DREAD and THE GRAVES (previously announced here). “Horrorfest will be back and better than ever,” Solomon tells Fango. “We are busy searching the globe for more films that preserve the quality and integrity of last year’s acquisitions, and we are confident that our loyal fans will be pleased with the 2010 lineup.”

After Dark’s latest addition comes in the form of DREAD (see review here), the latest short story adaptation from Clive Barker’s BOOKS OF BLOOD. Produced by Barker himself and written/directed by first time filmmaker/frequent Barker collaborator Anthony DiBlasi, DREAD revolves around three students who have set out to produce a documentary about fear and find themselves the subjects of an experiment in terror. The film stars TWILIGHT actor Jackson Rathbone, Laura Donnelly, Hanne Stevens and Shaun Evans. See Fantasia video of the DREAD’s world premiere here.

While HORRORFEST 4 doesn’t get underway until January 29, you can keep up with After Dark this weekend at San Diego Comic-Con, where they’ll be at booth #4035. After Dark will be recording fans at the event discussing various horrific topics, so drop on by to be seen and heard. The videos will be streamed on Horrorfestonline.com shortly after the convention. After Dark’s sponsor Knotts Scary Farm will have their haunt monsters handing out goodies and mingling with fans, and Miss Horrorfest III, Vic Tim, will be giving away a Horrorfest swag package every hour.

In addition, this Saturday, July 25, frequent Horrorfest actress Rachel Miner of PENNY DREADFUL, TOOTH & NAIL and BUTTERFLY EFFECT 3 will be at the booth signing autographs and getting love notes from 2 p.m.—3 p.m.

    I love the films chosen from the After Dark Film Fest.
    It's a new traditions that should continue. Some films not perfect, but the ones that are are sure worth sitting through are worth it.

    The afterdark horror films have only gone down hill since the first releases and obviously courtney is cutting back on what he spends on the films and the theatricals as the audience isnt fooled anymore with the marketing ploy of packaging together weak horror films under a banner (like ghost house)
